Couponing 101

How to Save Big on your grocery bill

In todays economy every cent has to count. Why spend money when you can get it for free or really cheap?

First things first, we all go "grocery shopping" that weekly trip to the old wally world, food city or wherever it is you chose to go, well STOP!
Couponing can be a hobby, money saver yet a way of life. Once you start seeing the savings add up its rather addictive. I look back now thinking wow, how did I pay that for .. that. Like Kleenex and toilet paper you seriously are buying it for 'waste' literally.

Items go on sale quarterly. Dont be a brand geek. Detergent, shampoo, toliet paper, razors and deoderants knowing it could be free or super cheap why not give it a try, change around. There are always some types of detergent, toilet paper, toothpaste, razors, deoderant and shampoo on sale. Otherwise you will see specific brand sales in certain times, therefore you will need to stock up on that item for cheap or free until the next realm.

Lets begin:
-start you a coupon binder, folder, file box, expandy file whatever will work best for you
-you will need sales papers
- find manufactor coupons at coupons.com couponnetwork.com redplum.com smartsource.com as well as indiviual company websites ( kraft arm & hammer, procter and gamble etc) also, if you like a company on facebook (about all products now) will sometimes offer a coupon for liking them. If it doesnt pop up automatically it will be under promotions, coupons, or special promotions just look around.
-Store coupons: foodcity.com foodlion.com kroger.com these you will key in your value card, mvp card number and load the coupons you want to directly to your card.
target.com familydollar.com you will print these store coupons and take them to the store
These store coupons especially target you will use the store coupon and combine it with a manufactor coupon. (yes you will use both - this is called stacking coupons)

cellfire.com - is a website where you download coupons directly to your store cards instead of printing off the coupon

Krogering:
Kroger doubles coupons up to .50 every day. The digital coupons loaded from their website DONOT double. You can load a digital coupon onto your Kroger card and use a manufactor coupon. *(stacking!) remember, your paper coupon will still double just not the digital one

Walgreens:
you can stack coupons at walgreens however, the total number of items in your buggy must be more than the number of coupons you use. If they have a sale and you have to use the sales paper coupon or a store booklet coupon it does count as 1.
For example:
ajax in sales flyer for .89 and it has the dots around it for cutout would be classified as a coupon. I have a manufactor coupon for .50 that would be 2 coupons therefore I must have at least, two items in my cart (any two items) thats where chewing gum and candy bars become your friends. If your going to stack coupons and get a $9 razor for free its worth that candy bar thats .50.

CVS
Unlimited couponing, no exclusions
CVS offers extracare bucks, if you dont have a CVS rewards card GET ONE!
Extracare bucks can be beneficial. Say Crest toothpaste is advertised for 2.99 and you get 2.99 back in ecb's, you have a mfg (manufactor coupon) for 1.00. You will pay 1.99 and get 2.99 back in ecbs its on the bottom of your reciept. Now, you will need to split up your orders to use and get the benefits right then. You will buy 1 toothpaste then turn around do another and use your ecb's so you dont have more out of pocket.

Always check CVS for clearance items its typical to see hot items shampoo, cleaners make up etc on clearance match with a coupon you hve in your binder and freebie it or cheapie at least. I have found that if you go to a large cvs store they are more expensive than the smaller ones because of traffic in the store, it sells easier at the larger store because more people see it.

So the order you will use your coupons will be: Store and manufactor coupons first, then extracare bucks.

Walgreens offer Register Rewards - works like extracare bucks only no card required.
They also have a "coupon kiosk" you walk in the door its a beautiful red machine you scan your card once per visit, it spits out 2 coupons woohoo jackpotarooni! Think of it as a couponing slot machine that cost nada.

Food City

Mega events:
Kroger and Food City offer these like, Buy 10 save $5

Buy one get one free sales
Food City Kroger and Food Lion basically there register sees it as each item 1/2 off
therefore you can use 2 manufactor coupons - 1 for each item
Walgreens and CVS
the registers read that these are buy the first the second one is free so you can use a mfg coupon on the one you are buying
BOGO1/2 off you will use 2 manufactor coupons one for each item you are buying

Southernsavers.com - helps do the work for you you will click on the store she will tell you the deal and have a link to the coupons listed ****MAJOR TIME SAVER*****

thekrazycouponlady.com - click on coupons there will be links to smartsource.com redplum.com as well as 2 coupon databases which is a listing of coupons click on the item it takes you to it and you hit print.

Target
MackDaddy of the MackDaddy for couponers!!!!!!!!
use store coupons and manufactor coupons they change often, also you can sign up for mobile coupons they text them to you you open it, and it has a bar code on it for the cashier to stand.
They are very good to take coupons, well easiest and best to me.
Always shop there markdowns look for red labels several endcaps in the store, and the bottom shelf throughout the store.

NEVER FORGET YOUR COUPONS AT HOME!!!!
NEVER PAY RETAIL!!

YOu will start, best on a Sunday, take your sales paper make a list of items on sale ( you will learn what a good deal is like $1.50 max for cereal, $2.50 max for detergent, $3 for 8 rolls bounty paper towels, $3 for 12big rolls of name brand toliet paper) then you will get busy finding coupons on all the various sites. If you run across store coupons you are not using right then you better print it, they change OFTEN. If you see a mfg coupon but dont need it now, put it in your coupon folder for when you might.

Start somewhere. Enjoy the extra money!
